My world of Research, Teaching and Internet Surfing Pleasure

The title says it all. Starting from September 1st, I will be at Mobi-Tourism as Head of Research and Development.

Mobi-Tourism specializes in providing innovative technological solutions dedicated to e-tourism platform management. Mobi-Tourism offers its clients a complete package of services, built upon complex and advance Information System to run a successful e-tourism business.

I am pretty convincing about how the interests of  this 5 years old startup match mine. So far, I like the crew and the work environment. I will keep you posted on how thing goes. Stay tuned.

I am leaving…

After five years in the public service, I have finally decided to move on and put my lecturer-researcher career behind. Don’t freak out, I know this is not something you expected to hear from me after seeing all the effort I put into teaching and research. But guess what, making decision is part of our lives and one I am making right now is for my own good. Having said that, I could make a comeback someday as I am still strongly devoted to doing research (for now ^^).

So the question is, what am I going to do next? Well, I guess the answer is quite obvious, I am going back to what I used to be really good at, IT consulting.

Got a few permanent job proposals in R&D and IT consulting services and I am still in the process of decision-making right now. I keep you posted, so stay tuned :)

Heading to Noordwijkerhout for CSEDU 2011

What I have been repeating to people who ask me what I like the most being a lecturer-researcher, are “teaching”, “researching” and last but not least, “traveling”. Having a full paper to present in CSEDU 2011, I will be flying to Noordwijkerhout (a city with a name that I cannot correctly pronounce despite the help from a dutch friend) and staying there for 5 days.

I am excited about meeting new people, coming from different parts of the world. I have the feeling that my stay in Noordwijkerhout will be another great experience to remember. On top of that, I will be, for the first time ever, chairing a conference session. I cannot wait to experience something new in a conference like being a session chair ;)

PS: CSEDU 2010 received 304 submissions, of which 10% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 26% were presented as short papers and 15% as posters.

If you happened to check out the publication page, you might have noticed that I celebrate 2011 with 2 papers published respectively in two international conferences and 1 long article soon to be appeared in ITSE international journal.

Thanks to my colleagues, Sébastien and Patrick for their contributions.

Update:

I just received an email this morning (feb. 16th) from IJIET Editorial Boards regarding the extended version of my IEEE ICIET paper being selected for the next issue of International Journal of Information and Education Technology.

The conference in Freiburg is now officially considered one of the most memorable experience for me. While I attended many sessions of both E-learning and IHCI conferences, where papers with great scientific research quality were presented, I also  met great people, coming from all around the world.

I got back home with great memories and here is why

1) My paper, entitled “TrAVis to enhance online tutoring and learning activities: real time visualization of students’ tracking data” was selected for the “Best Emergent Technology Paper” at the IADIS International Conference on E-Learning 2010, and

2) I met great people, especially Claus from Germany and Vicki from the UK, with whom I had a lot of fun hanging out.

For your information, here is the acceptance rate of IADIS Elearning 2010.

  • Submission: 225 papers from 39 countries
  • Accepted papers: 50 full papers and a few short papers
  • Acceptance rate ~ 22%

I am looking forward to the next IADIS conferences.
