We have conducted our fourth experiment on TrAVis

TrAVis 1.2 is the first prototype of Web-based platform for Tracking Data Analysis and Visualization. TrAVis 1.3 is under development.

Since last six months, TrAVis has been introduced to a number of teachers, students, and researchers. We also have carried out three experiments in the objective of observing how TrAVis can be useful to the real participants in the learning process as well as how we can improve the platform in order to better match the needs of the students and teachers.
At the end of each experiments, participants were asked to answer a questionnaire with about 25 questions regarding the four following categories :
1) Interface of TrAVis
2) Examples of the indicateurs provided by TrAVis
3) Requirements of each participants in analyzing and visualizing data
4) Requirements of each participants in tracking users’ communication activities

For now, we are still analyzing the collected information. Nevertheless, we have fixed bugs and improved the visualization interfaces of TrAVis 1.2, and included new features in TrAVis 1.3.

Last two weeks, we have conducted another experiment on TrAVis. The experiment took place at Lyon1 university during 45 minutes. Eight Master students participated in that experiment.

With comments and feedbacks from TrAVis users, we are working on the improvement of TrAVis. We are working hard to response to the real needs of the potential users, such as students and teachers in distance learning situations, by making TrAVis a tool that assists them in the task of analyzing and visualization computer mediated communication activities.
